Haddad & Sherwin LLP obtained a $5.9 million jail suicide settlement, which included significant reforms to a County jail’s practices. The agreement obtained by Haddad & Sherwin LLP prohibits the County from allowing Licensed Vocational Nurses to work outside their legal scope of practice, working illegally as Registered Nurses and Mental Health Clinicians. The reforms also require retraining of all mental health staff on individualized treatment plans, and annual training on suicide prevention of all jail staff who have contact with inmates. The reforms also require the County to provide 24/7 clinical supervision of all LVN’s working in the jail.
