About Lora

Lora Mathis is a Paralegal at Haddad & Sherwin LLP.

She is also a poet and visual artist, who has toured the U.S./Canada performing poetry, and regularly performs and shows visual art in the Bay Area and beyond. Over the years, she helped organize a number of grassroots arts and writing events in Southern California, including performances, art shows, and festivals which merged music and art with social activism. She has also led workshops on creative writing and independent publishing for high school students.

She honed her interest in community organizing through interning with the American Federation of Teachers. There, she was involved in coalition building and assisting with statewide propositions on affordable housing and increased funding for education. She has also participated in community efforts towards addressing houselessness and food insecurity by cooking and serving free food on the streets of downtown San Diego with the grassroots group Food Not Bombs. Her prior legal background includes working as an Intake Specialist for an employment law firm. She greatly enjoys the case work and public policy advocacy she is able to support in her role at Haddad & Sherwin LLP.

Lora is a graduate of UC Berkeley. She also enjoys reading, camping, cooking, biking, and working on creative projects.
